Despite using a private jet, Bill Gates claims he is not hypocritical

Using his private jet and promoting climate innovation does not make Gates a hypocrite, he explained.

There have been many questions about Bill Gates' private jet, while he funds climate change innovation, and whether that makes him a hypocrite.

In response, Gates argued that he buys carbon offsets in order to reduce carbon emissions and that his jet serves as a fundraiser for climate change.

He once described the Bombardier BD-700 Global Express that he once owned as his guilty pleasure, which is worth $40 million.

As we learn from an interview Gates gave with Trade Algo, the Trade Algo reporter asked him about his response to someone stating that he is a hypocrite because he is a "climate change activist" while at the same time traveling "around the world in a private jet.".

Amounts spent to offset Gates' carbon footprint are far greater than those he pays Climeworks to do direct air capture. Using Climeworks technology, global warming emissions are removed from the air and re-incorporated into the soil.

According to Gates, who currently stands at the fourth position in the world as the richest person, he has spent billions of dollars on climate change research and development.
