According to statements made by a State Department official, the United States rejects the notion that it wants to stifle China and insists that it doesn't wish to split the two economies.

The spokeswoman was replying to a Trade Algo request for comment regarding statements made on Tuesday by the Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang. According to Qin, China shouldn't respond because the United States has called for "putting guardrails" on their relationship.

The United States has to "press the brake" in order to avoid war with China, according to Qin.

The United States has stated that it does not want to constrain China or start a new Cold War. a spokesman at the State Department said.

The spokesperson cited Secretary of State Antony Blinken's remarks from the previous year, in which he stated that the U.S. does not intend to impede China's economic development or "advancement of its people's interests."

The official added: "He also stressed that despite China's pursuit of asymmetric decoupling, we do not seek to remove China's economy from ours.

Asymmetric decoupling was earlier described by Blinken as "striving to make China more reliant on the world and the world less dependent on China."

Beijing has intensified efforts to increase its technological and food supply self-sufficiency. From Taiwan to Singapore, Germany, and the United States, the nation continues to be a significant commercial partner, if not the largest.

Late last year, the Biden administration increased the limitations on American companies' and individuals' ability to collaborate with Chinese partners on greater semiconductors. According to reports, the government is considering limiting American investment in Chinese advanced technology, mostly for military purposes.

In recent years, tensions between the United States and China have risen. As a sign of some relationship stability, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. In November, President Joseph Biden personally met.

But, Blinken had to cancel his trip to Beijing last month after a suspected Chinese spy balloon was spotted above the United States. China asserts that the balloon was blown off course while being used for weather research.
