A new small company credit card from U.S. Bank has been launched and is perfect for digital nomads.

After making $6,000 in net purchases with your U.S. Bank Business AltitudeTM Connect Global Elite Mastercard® during the first 180 days of account activation, you will receive 60,000 bonus points as part of the card's welcome promotion. In addition to earning 4X to 5X points in other travel categories, the welcome bonus alone is worth $600.

Here is all you need to know if you're looking for a card to maximize your business travel expenses.

U.S. Benefits of Bank Business Altitude Connect

Make the most of your travels with the U.S. Bank Business Altitude Connect card's benefits and bonuses. You can accrue points using the card at the following rates:

  • 5X points are awarded for hotel and rental vehicle reservations made directly through the U.S. Center for Bank Rewards

  • Every year, the first $150,000 in total travel purchases—including flight, lodging, gas, and EV charging stations—gets you 4X points.

  • 2X points on meals, takeaway, delivery from restaurants, and cellphone services

  • With all other purchases, get 1X points

For the first year, there is no annual cost; after that, there is a $95 yearly fee.

This card has no international transaction fees, allowing cardholders to use it without restriction abroad. A Priority Pass airport lounge membership is also included, entitling the owner to four free visits each year to any of the 1,300+ participating lounges. Also, if you pay for a ridesharing service (including taxis) at least once every month for three consecutive months, you will automatically receive a $25 statement credit.

You can accumulate points with the U.S. Bank Business Altitude Connect cards are redeemable for a range of things, such as travel, gift cards, and cash back, at a cost of one cent apiece (as a statement credit or deposit into a U.S. Bank checking or savings account). The 60,000 welcome bonus is therefore worth $600, which is a decent deal given that the card has a $0 annual fee for the first year.

But, you should take into account other business travel credit cards with greater incentives or a wider selection of travel benefits if you don't mind paying an annual fee.

If you spend $15,000 on purchases during the first three months of opening your account, you'll receive 100,000 bonus points with the Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. It features a $95 annual fee and offers 3X points on the first $150,000 in expenditures made in a few areas, including travel, shipping, internet, cable, and phone services, as well as purchases made for social media and search engine advertising.

Full of premium features, the Business Platinum Card® from American Express can easily pay for its $695 annual fee thanks to statement credits (see rates and fees). Among the statement credits are:

  • Statement credits for Dell purchases of up to $400 annually (or $200 every two years) (enrollment required).

  • Up to $360 in annual statement credits ($90 per quarter) on goods and services from Indeed

  • For companies using Creative Cloud and Acrobat Pro DC, various Adobe prepaid yearly plans offer up to $150 in annual statement credits (enrollment required).

  • For purchases made directly with any U.S. wireless telephone carrier, $120 annually (up to $10 monthly) (enrollment required).

  • Statement credits of $189 per year for a CLEAR® membership

  • Airline fee credits of up to $200 per calendar year

  • Depending on which one you select, you may have to pay up to $100 in application fees every four to five years for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.

Together with complimentary Gold status with Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors, travel insurance coverages (main rental car, trip delay, luggage, and trip cancellation/interruption), all of that comes on top of Priority Pass airport lounge membership with unlimited visits.

To Sum Up

A small business credit card with features for digital nomads is the U.S. Bank Business Altitude Connect card. It offers a number of travel benefits as well as sizable spending bonuses for qualifying travel expenditures.

There are other travel-oriented small business cards available on the market, though, with bigger sign-up bonuses or more valuable travel perks. Hence, carefully weigh all of your options before applying to make sure it's the best fit for your small business and travel preferences.
